The Brief / Project:

Web design for law firm in Tunbridge Wells.

The Client / Case Study:

Victoria Sampson / CooperBurnett

Here's what Victoria had to say:

Based in Tunbridge Wells for more than 40 years, law firm CooperBurnett LLP has built an enviable reputation for providing exceptional legal services for individuals and their businesses.

CooperBurnett is proud of the experience, expertise and excellence its people bring to TeamCB and the firm is also committed to supporting its local community. This includes working with its current chosen charity, Jigsaw South East, and supporting community events such as the Walk Tonbridge Festival (which recently raised nearly £37,000 for charity) and the Tunbridge Wells Business Awards, organised by The TN Card.

Target Ink has been working with CooperBurnett for eight years, having been introduced by the team at Sankey’s, another long-standing website client of ours.

“At that point, we knew we needed a new website but weren’t that sure where to turn,” says CooperBurnett Partner Victoria Sampson. “Rob came to visit us and was friendly and approachable. He obviously ‘knew his stuff’ from a technical point of view but didn’t ‘blind us with science’. We also liked the fact that Target Ink was a local company.”

We built CooperBurnett’s website at that time and it has since had a couple of refreshes - in 2021 and then, recently, when the firm underwent a rebrand.

As a firm, we work with a number of local creatives and recommended the branding agency, Baker Wilcox, to CooperBurnett. The firm talked to a few other local design agencies but opted to use Kelly Wilcox at Baker Wilcox.

“The whole process worked seamlessly,” says Victoria. “Kelly understood how Target Ink works and what the firm would need from her, while Rob and the team worked tirelessly to make the refresh a reality. Target Ink took time to really understand our rebrand and how we wanted it to be reflected on the website. Rob also recognised what we wanted the website to highlight – namely our people at CooperBurnett and the key role they play in our firm.”

She continues: “We were quite clear that we wanted the rebrand to happen on a particular Monday morning and Rob was very understanding about that – especially, as technically, that’s not easy to achieve. But the website was there in its full glory on that morning, as our team arrived to find beautiful new water bottles on their desks, along with umbrellas and shopping bags bearing our new branding.”

The launch of a new website or, indeed, a refresh, is only the beginning and the team at CooperBurnett are enjoying the flexibility of being able to make changes using our maintenance and support package.

Angela Ward (from Angela Ward Media) has supported CooperBurnett with its content creation, social media and PR for a number of years and is responsible for keeping the firm’s website up to date with news stories and any updates.

“CooperBurnett is always busy and there are often news stories to add to the website or updates to the ‘our team’ section as the firm grows,” says Angela. “Raising a ticket for each of these jobs with Target Ink is really straightforward. It’s also good to see a paper trail and it gives me peace of mind that the changes will be made.”

She continues: “I work with other clients and sometimes they give me access to add copy to that website. I always feel a bit nervous that I’m not doing it properly or I might somehow break something. With Target Ink, I know this won’t happen and that they will always optimise the pages for SEO etc.”

“Also, the team at Target Ink is really helpful and great when I have questions about the content we are adding to the website. They’ll also speak up if we have an idea about making a change and they don’t think it’ll work because of SEO for instance. I really appreciate their input.”

Here at Target Ink, we always encourage our clients to regularly add case studies to their websites and CooperBurnett has taken this onboard as well.

“Our team often receive wonderful testimonials, so it’s good to have somewhere to post these on the website,” says Victoria. “We are also grateful to many of our clients who are happy to talk to Angela, who then crafts these conversations into case studies for our website.”

She continues: “While we don’t rely primarily on our website for new clients – we know that when somebody from our team is recommended to a potential new client, they will probably check them out on our website. At that point, the fact that it looks fresh, professional and is obviously up to date, is really important. We absolutely trust Rob and the team at Target Ink to do the very best job for us. From a budget perspective, it’s also helpful to know what we are paying each month and that the majority of changes and updates are covered in that cost.”

The website refresh has been live for a few months now and the team at CooperBurnett has received great feedback – not just from TeamCB but from clients and other professionals.

Katie Gillam, a Partner in CooperBurnett’s Private Client team commented (in one of CooperBurnett’s series of Table Talk articles): “The rebrand is really fresh and clients have commented on the website, which I think looks very impressive.”
